Special Lecture Session on
“Academic and Research Writing :
Ethical and Esoteric Issues"

The Discourse Society is delighted to report another successful conduction of Lecture Session titled "Academic and Research Writing: Ethical and Esoteric Issues" by Prof. Biswajit Ghosh on February 21st, 2024. Enthusiastic participants from various faculties
and affiliated colleges attended the event.
The session commenced with the Mousiquee Music Club of FSS BHU presenting the Kulgeet of Banaras Hindu University. Prof. OP Bharatiya, Head of the Department of Sociology at our Faculty of Social Sciences, welcomed the distinguished speaker, Prof.
Biswajit Ghosh, Former Vice Chancellor and Professor of Sociology at the University of Burdwan. Prof. Ghosh elaborated on key points during the session:
_Writing and Thinking: Emphasized writing as a tool for organizing thoughts and enhancing understanding_
_Infinite Opportunities: Encouraged actively seeking and working on
writing and research opportunities._
_Formulizing Content: Stressed on importance of abstract, citations,
bibliography and plagiarism free writing_
_Theoretical Knowledge: Highlighted the significance of theoretical foundations in sociology and academic writing_
_Purpose of Work: Discussed the necessity of understanding the purpose
behind one's writing and research efforts_
Later on, Participants including Research Scholors and students engaged in an
interaction through their questions regarding academic and research writing,
showcasing active involvement .
In the end, Dr. Rajeev Dubey, Faculty Student Advisor at FSS-BHU, expressed gratitude and thanked to Prof. Ghosh for sharing his profound knowledge effectively.
Prof. Ghosh's session offered valuable insights and practical tips for enhancing academic and research writing skills. His emphasis on active discussions, cultural awareness, and theoretical knowledge will undoubtedly benefit participants in their future endeavors. The session was pertinent and provided a platform for valuable exchanges among participants, enriching their perspectives on writing.
